Our mission
Our Mission - to be heard……
Little Bromley is a small village and these plans affect each and every resident. However, these works are extensive and happening throughout Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex and this may well affect you too!
This website has been created to try to pool together information about all four projects to provide an overview of what is planned. There are numerous links that you can follow to gain a deeper understanding of these proposals, as well as resourses to help fight them.
Thank you for taking the time to read through these pages, and we are grateful for your support.
The Problem
Extensive development planned by the national grid throughout Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex will negatively impact huge swathes of our beautiful countryside and local towns and villages. This will include
The installation of 50m high pylons criss-crossing the countryside
The installation of a massive substation the size of 33 football pitches in Little Bromley.
Road widening works with destruction of hedgerows and wildlife along the route
Over 400 HGV lorries per day for years during construction
Additional plans from Five Estuaries, North Falls, and Tarchon will further impact on our lives:
Cable trenching upto 100m wide will be dug from Frinton through Tendring to Little Bromley
Massive construction compunds will be built at points along this route
Small country lanes lined by ancient hedgerows will be torn down and widened to allow space for the passage of hundreds of HGVs daily
There will be noise pollution, light pollution, air pollution, and a devastating effect on the local wildlife
And even though we will be significantly affected by this, 80% of the electricity produced will be exported to Germany via the Tarchon cable route.
Example substation. Aprox 267x300m in size (from North Falls project)
Cable trenching. Corridors aprox 100m wide from Frinton through Tendring to Little Bromly. (from North Falls project)
Example haul road and road widening. This involves the destruction of ancient hedgerows and agricultural land at multiple sites along the Frinton to Little Bromly corridor
