How can I take action?

  1. Email your objection to National Grid

National Grid are conducting localised consultations in Suffolk and Essex.

Targeted consultations open for proposed changes in Essex and Thurrock

National Grid are holding a series of targeted consultations on some potential changes to the proposals they published at their statutory consultation in summer 2024.

Most of these changes have been identified from feedback received. Before they make any decisions, they are going back to consult with those people living near these proposed changes.

The consultations started in January with locations in Norfolk and Suffolk. They are now holding targeted consultations on proposed changes at locations in Essex and Thurrock starting on Tuesday 25 February and closing on 11:59 pm on Thursday 27 March 2025.

Providing feedback

 While these are local, targeted non-statutory consultations anyone can take part, and all our targeted consultations materials are available on their project website.

Please let them know which location you’re providing feedback on when submitting comments. Each location has a reference name, which is available in the documentation in our project library.

You can take part either by emailing them, writing to them using our Freepost address or via the online questionnaire.

2. Contact your Councillor and MP

Urge them to object to the proposals for electrical grid development from

  • The National Grid

  • North Falls

  • Five Estuaries

  • Tarchon

Feel free to copy and paste the following text;

“The Norwich to Tilbury upgrade project brings severe harm to the environment, communities, landscapes & heritage of East Anglia. An alternatives such as a fully integrated offshore has not been presented for consultation. Destruction of the countryside, farmland and local villages from Frinton to Little Bromley to build multiple substations, cable trenches with associated road widening works and traffic will cause extensive environmental, noise and light pollution. Please object to the proposals from National Grid,North falls, Five estuaries and Tarchon”
